Sweet Song - Words Spoken

In the scriptures, it is written that there are power in our words, that out of the mouth comes forth blessings and curses. Imagine that, the power of the tongue has the ability to bless or to curse.

May the words that we all speak be a sweet song in the ears of God and in the ears of others. May those words produce sweet fruit in our lives, the lives of others and in our world. Just imagine the power, the blessings, the good that your words spoken can produce. Be a seed sower and sow seeds that give Glory to God and bless the ears and the hearts that hear them.

Together, we can all make a difference.

Dr. Thiessen - A Biblical Perspective on Wealth and Poverty

Back To Eden: A Biblical Perspective on Wealth and Poverty - Part scriptural analysis, part compassionate musing, and part academic study, Back to Eden brings together academic research, Christian theology, and universal human emotions to examine how our financial status affects our way of life and our treatment of others.

Starting with a broad analysis of how certain scriptural passages can be interpreted through the lens of our human capacity for love, compassion, righteousness, and humility, author Dr. Thiessen moves with increasing specificity into a detailed, succinct, and thoroughly researched examination of how our perspective towards those less fortunate is directly related to our relationship with God, not to our financial portfolio.

For those who seek to deepen their relationship with God and to better understand how His teachings encourage compassion, generosity, and open heartedness, Back to Eden not only provides the academic and scriptural foundation to accomplish this, but it also weaves each lesson through a prism of human experience, allowing these teachings to be understood and identified by any who are willing to learn.

Through deep analysis and thoughtful consideration of theological literature and select scripture, Dr. Thiessen’s work weaves a story that aspires to educate, enlighten, and inspire.

Pastor David R. Stokes

A Must Read .. When Good Samaritans Get Mugged: Hope and Healing for Wounded Warriors, by David R. Stokes invites readers on a delightful road of forgiveness to thriving in every way.

Connecting the dots, the author leads readers through the art of storytelling, as Jesus did, to the discovery of grace (through Christ) and relates what that means for us.

He offers help through the application of forgiveness, mercy, love, patience, the Bible and God’s ways that challenges readers to make an inner-self survey. Dealing with such subjects as: anger, bitterness and unforgiveness, he shows readers the only way to having true and lasting inner peace – through reliance on God and complete forgiveness.

Knowing that we all get hurt, even when trying to do “good” things – and even by those who are within the church walls, he begins with the story of the Good Samaritan as a backdrop to the question: What do you do when you receive hurt and/or pain either physically, emotionally, or spiritually from other believers (and others in the world)? Offering true scriptural and Biblical answers, this book offers hope for the journey into forgiveness, the grace of God and a renewing of the mind that leads to maturity in Christ.

Using such Biblical examples as “Saul of Tarsus” who was later converted to the Apostle Paul and also Joseph’s story, the author also relates a number of compelling true-life stories that add intrigue and captivate one’s intellect and heart. Teaching and instructing along the way, the author advocates Scripture memorization as way to build the inner man and faith – as one learns to “take every thought captive”- and tend to your thoughts as you would a garden – plucking out the weeds. Filled with insightful wisdom, encouragement, inspiration, and a keen understanding for the ways of God, the author presents sound and practical advice on how to handle the hard punches in life.

Truthfully, there is not a person on this Earth who can say, “I’ve had a pain free life.” With that in mind, inevitably this book will touch you in some profound way. I have to say this is the only book, (that I read in only two sessions and wanted to read straight through). I could literally not put the book down! Filled with so much candor, the author gets to his point in a number of memorable ways through his great story telling ability that not only intertwine Scripture, history, Biblical figures, but also memorable sporting events, to include everyday citizens, that will impact your life.

Everyone has a story. His book relates this fact clearly and states that if we think about our life, you will understand we all need forgiveness on many levels in life, as he answers some hard questions about how to get over the past and move forward. As one who has lived through the up-and-downs of life as a pastor, father and seen many ministers that have quit along the way for various reasons, he knows what he is talking about.

This book is a highly recommended read for the Church, the Body of Christ, for pastors to hand out or for anyone looking to move forward and get better – not bitter.  Additionally, also a great way to point others in the direction of what the Lord expects of His children, which is, “Yes, you are your brother’s keeper.”
